Description
The world-famous novel is a literary tribute to the writer Virginia Woolf, describing an ordinary day in the lives of three female characters (Virginia Woolf, Mrs. Dalloway, and Mrs. Brown), similar to how Virginia Woolf describes a single day in Mrs. Dalloway. The originally intended title of Mrs. Dalloway was, after all, "The Hours." The fates of the characters unfold in different time planes, yet the plot lines slightly intersect at the end of the book. In 1999, the novel won the PULITZER PRIZE and the PEN/Faulkner Award. Miroslav Jindra received a Creative Award from the Translators' Guild for the Czech translation of this novel in 2003. The Hours also gained fame in film form, starring Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, and Nicole Kidman, who won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for her performance. Total duration: 7 hours 44 minutes.
