Description
Laozi, the Old Master, lived around 570 to 490 BC. The historian Sima Qian wrote about him: "Laozi cultivated the way (tao) and its power (te). He taught that a person should strive to hide and remain nameless. He lived for many years in the Zhou kingdom. When he saw the dynasty declining, he left the country... No one knows where he spent his last days... Laozi was a sage who longed to live in obscurity." Despite this, few Chinese sages are as well-known as this legendary founder of Taoism. His Tao Te Ching has been one of the main sources of Chinese thought for over two thousand years and is also the most frequently translated Chinese text into Western languages. Today, it is also considered one of the key works of world philosophy, which will likely provide many new insights in the future. Interpreters: Taťána Fischerová and Milan Friedl. Duration: 0 hours 57 minutes.
