Description
The strength of Čapek's apocrypha - as opposed to similar artistic forms by other authors - lies, among other things, in the fact that the author does not merely turn a well-known motif upside down in a witty manner. Čapek is able to delve deeply even on the small canvas of a newspaper story, avoiding schematization, seeing both the strengths and flaws in the characters, and empathizing with their inner world. For him, the focus is on humanity. The author reflects the current situation of his time through his apocrypha, something no one dared to do before him. Čapek was preparing a book edition of the apocrypha in the last year of his life. Content: Thersites, The Death of Archimedes, On the Ten Righteous, Holy Night, Martha and Mary, Lazarus, Benchanan, Pilate's Evening. Total duration: 1 hour, 24 minutes.
