The story of the new comedy by Zdeněk Troška, inspired by countless stone jokes, takes us to a peaceful town in South Bohemia. Here, a variety of typically Czech characters and archetypal families live their unchanging rhythm. For example, the Novák family. Father Pepa is the captain of the city police, his wife Vilma is a teacher, daughter Julie studies health sciences, and nine-year-old Pepíček comments on everything that rustles around him in an unstoppable manner. The boy literally has his eyes popping out of his head when a noble couple arrives from England to Kameňákov, having been returned the local castle as part of restitution. In a small town, nothing stays secret for long, and soon everyone knows that the lord has come to search for treasure left by his father. Such news sets the entire Kameňákov on its feet, and three local mobsters—a wealthy man named Kohn, a dashing chief physician, and a seasoned criminal—are literally kept awake at night. And then things really start to happen... The film Kameňák continues the poetic style and humor of my previous films, such as Sun, Hay, Strawberries.
