Description
This Czech-language historical comedy follows Emperor Rudolf II, the baker Matěj and the legendary Golem. The story takes viewers to Prague and the court of Rudolf II, whose interests lie more in art, beautiful women and his alchemical workshop than in ruling. Above all, he wants to discover the elixir of youth and find the legendary Golem. While he pursues his passions, the leading courtiers, headed by Chamberlain Lang, join forces with Rudolf’s brother Matthias, who is seeking the throne. After an accidental case of mistaken identity, the ruler’s role is taken by the baker Matěj Kotrba, who closely resembles the emperor but is 25 years younger. He outwits the treacherous courtiers, issues useful decrees and uses the Golem’s power for the benefit of all.
