Beyond the deep forests and rolling hills lies a charming Czech basin. Besides the honest and hardworking inhabitants, there are also robbers living here. The worst of them, the old rogue Lotrando, is so busy robbing travelers that he hardly notices his son has grown into a handsome but uneducated young man. Therefore, he sends young Lotrando to a monastery to receive proper upbringing. The boy, who had been growing like wood in the forest, becomes a refined young man among the monks. As a dutiful son, he promises his dying father that he will properly take over his trade. When the soul of the old scoundrel finally descends to hell, young Lotrando faces difficult times: as a well-mannered person, he is unable to cheat even the most ordinary merchant. Fortunately, he meets the woodcutter Drnec, who shares a piece of bread with curd with him... With the diligent woodcutter Drnec, Lotrando also travels to distant Solimania. There, they have long been searching for a true educated doctor. A person who has the medical prefix 'Dr.' before their name. Only such a man, according to the worldly traveler Mr. Lustig, could heal their ailing princess Zubejda, over whom Sultan Solimán's wide paternal heart painfully aches. But...
