Description
This plastic giant panda figure is based on the solitary animal, which lives almost continuously among bamboo thickets. The giant panda is an omnivore and occasionally eats eggs and insects in addition to bamboo, providing it with essential sources of protein. Its ears tremble while it chews. Adult pandas weigh 70–160 kg and measure 1.2–1.9 m in length, with a short tail usually measuring just 10–15 cm. Unlike other bears, the giant panda does not hibernate because it cannot build up sufficient fat reserves. Males and females generally meet only during courtship, from March to May. Mating is brief, lasting from 30 seconds to five minutes, but is repeated. Since the embryo develops very quickly, the female can theoretically give birth after only 45 days, although the time can also extend to six months depending on the surrounding conditions.
