The author's disc of recordings of Jiří Hlaváč's compositions, on the occasion of his life anniversary, maps his former musical creations for the Barock Jazz Quintet, newer works for the Five Star Clarinet Quartet, melodramatic pieces for actors, and finally contemporary works for friends of the singer and instrumentalist. ***** In every piece, both musical and verbal, his gift for poetry, melody, and Moravian idioms is evident, drawing not only from his origins but also from his relationship with his hometown of Zlín and Southern Moravia. He has infused each composition with his memories and echoes of joy. ***** Jiří Hlaváč studied music composition and poetry only as a self-taught individual. He found inspiration in the works of Jiří Orten, Jan Skácel, Bohuslav Martinů, and Pavel Blatný.
