Description
Following the trail of lost sonatas and excerpts from previously undocumented stages of Jiří Čart's life, Michaela Ambrosi embarked on this journey during her master's studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Since not all the information and musical materials she found could fit into her master's thesis, she dedicated her doctoral studies at JAMU in Brno to this topic as well. In searching for Čart's compositions for this work, she discovered sonatas that, in her view, best capture Jiří Čart's musical language. These sonatas also dramaturgically fit perfectly for a flute CD. However, none of them had been recorded until now on either period or modern instruments, making this a world premiere recording of these works on a replica flute, likely similar to the one they would have been played on at the time of their creation. The selected sonatas are preserved in manuscript copies in music libraries in Berlin, Jena, Stockholm, and Wolfenbüttel.
