Description
The series Murders Like in a Fairy Tale takes place in the present day in a village setting. "I wanted to explore the Czech countryside and its spiritual dimension in some way," explains screenwriter and director Petr Vodička, who, as usual, approached the story with humor and exaggeration. "In the village, I sometimes encounter a peculiar coarseness, but at the same time, I also find kindness and a certain deeper connection with nature that can have a rough edge. I just feel that there is some depth, both light and dark, and that piques my curiosity." The author had virtually no experience with the given genre until now. But Murders Like in a Fairy Tale is my first full-fledged detective story." According to Vodička, what he enjoyed most was playing with the structure of the story, meaning that the creator can work a bit "like with a construction set." Conversely, the hardest part was getting started, "getting past the initial uncertainty of what and how and where, and moving from those seemingly nonsensical notes that lead nowhere to the actual writing."
