The two CDs of the Prague Spring Festival Gold Edition Vol. I feature rare historical recordings from the early years of the festival for the first time on a medium, captivating and delighting every music lover. We are honored to be part of this project and look forward to the continuation of this editorial series. The Prague Spring and Czech Radio – institutions whose collaboration dates back to the very beginnings of the festival. The microphones of the former Czechoslovak Radio appeared in its first year in 1946 and have accompanied selected festival concerts to this day. The vast majority of concerts were broadcast live. Many of their recordings have remained in the radio archive as significant testimonies to the artistic level of our and world artists at various times. Their current edition will be welcomed not only by discerning enthusiasts of historical recordings but by all supporters of top artistic creations, presented in an immediate performance without cuts and the constraining atmosphere that studio work brings. The reduced technical quality is understandable – it corresponds to the recording possibilities at different times.
