Description
It is the year 1919 and Louisa Cannon is on the run. From poverty, from her old life, and from her violent uncle who intends to shove her onto a train and deliver her to one of his cronies as a 'payment' for his debts. However, before this disgusting deal can take place, Louisa jumps off the train. Her ticket to a better life is an invitation to a job interview at the Mitford household. Instead of becoming a governess to five young ladies, she ultimately secures a different position, but the shadows of her past continue to creep up behind her. Later, she learns that a nurse was murdered on the same train, coincidentally the granddaughter of the famous Florence Nightingale. News of the brutal crime spreads quickly. As Louisa gradually discovers, the victim has a connection to the Mitford family. The oldest sister, Nancy, is particularly interested in her. The two young women become increasingly entangled in a strange story, and at a time when a woman from a good family must merely be an ornament, they become easy prey for a determined killer... 13 hours 24 minutes read by Jaromír Meduna.
