Description
The wedding of Margot of Valois and Henry of Navarre was meant to reconcile Protestants and Catholics, but the events that followed became synonymous with bloodshed under the name of the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre. The French royal court of the 16th century serves as the backdrop, and the fate of the energetic regent Margot drives the narrative of the radio fresco based on Alexandre Dumas' famous historical novel Queen Margot. The story unfolds at the French royal court in the 16th century against the backdrop of the escalating conflict between Catholics and Protestants, which culminated in the massacre known as the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre. The central couple is the newlywed pair Margot of Valois and Henry of Navarre. In a typically Dumas-like tale full of plots, traps, and secrets, a number of historical figures appear, such as Catherine de' Medici and French King Charles IX. The series, utilizing modern radio techniques, was produced according to a script by Michal Lázňovský and dramaturgy by Hynek Pekárek, directed by Dimitrij Dudík. The music was composed by Petr Mandel. In the central couple of newlyweds, you will hear Andrea Elsnerová and Michal Zelenka.
