Description

Otomar Kvěch, the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra in Prague, Kühn's mixed choir, Kühn's children's choir, the Academia wind quintet, the Herold string quartet, the brass quintet of the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, Irena Chřibková, Jiří Malát, Ivan Kusnjer, Jiří Brückler, Josef Škarka, Vladimír Válek, Regina Renzová, Jan Rozehnal, Jiří Chvála, Marek Vorlíček, Antonín Dvořák^ Otomar Kvěch: Requiem temporalem for soloists, children's and mixed choir, organ, 3 chamber ensembles, and orchestra, recording by Czech Radio from the Prague Premieres festival in Dvořák Hall, Rudolfinum, March 16, 2009. Antonín Dvořák: Te Deum, cantata for soloists, choir, and orchestra, op. 103 B 176, recording by Czech Radio from the performance at the 59th annual Prague Spring in St. Vitus Cathedral, May 21, 2004. The combination of cantata works, separated by an entire century, may be surprising on this CD, but it is equally surprisingly homogeneous, even though the works themselves are different. Both Dvořák and Kvěch drew from spiritual texts with which they resonated deeply. However, the stimuli for composition and the very emergence of both works differ. Dvořák eagerly composed for his anticipated entry into the New World. Kvěch, on the other hand, spent years accumulating his own reflections, doubts, and the certainty of creative decision.
