Description
No matter what question he is asked, he will honestly and openly say what he thinks about it. Not out of a need to confide, but from a simple need not to lie, to avoid evasion, to not withhold, to not dodge. It is not even an excessive trust in people; it is simply an inner law of truth and presence, come what may. Even at the cost of irritations. He has no need to talk at all; he only has a need to speak the truth. (Karel Čapek) The Czech Radio Archive has a few recordings of T. G. Masaryk's voice, but the preserved footage has its invaluable value. You will hear a speech to the National Assembly from 1928, speeches to children, or an English greeting on the anniversary of American President Washington's birth. The recording also includes radio news about President Masaryk's health, death, and funeral, speeches by President Beneš, Jan Masaryk, Voskovec and Werich, and other prominent figures about Masaryk. The CD concludes with an interview with Masaryk's granddaughters Anna and Herberta from 1990. The recordings were selected and compiled by Tomáš Černý. Introductory word by Richard Vašek. Duration: 2 hours, 32 minutes, 00 seconds.
