The consequences of Emma's reckless actions often catch not only their instigator off guard... At the family estate Hartfield, where Emma resides with her hypochondriac father, she engages in boring activities suitable for a young lady – she embroiders, paints, visits the poor, and also cares for Mr. Woodhouse's health, which does not satisfy her at all. With great enthusiasm, she decides to make the people around her happy. Convinced of her own infallibility – and with a great deal of self-assurance – she influences interpersonal relationships not only on her estate.
