Samuel Barber, Štěpán Filípek, Katelyn Bouska, Leoš Janáček, Jeremy Gill, Miloslav Ištvan In the summer of 2015, Katelyn Bouska came to the Czech Republic to search for a new generation of Czech composers. During this opportunity, she encountered Štěpán Filípek, who introduced her to some scores by Miloslav Ištvan and the musical world of Brno. From their mutual sharing of information about musical cultures, a long-term collaboration later crystallized. Currently, Katelyn teaches piano at the Curtis Institute and Temple University in Philadelphia. Štěpán is a cellist in the chamber ensembles Miloslav Ištvan Quartett, Solaris3, and Opera Trio. He also frequently collaborates with Czech Radio Brno to document the works for cello by contemporary Moravian composers. One of the most interesting American composers of the 20th century was Philadelphia native Samuel Barber (1910-1981). He created his own creative language independent of the influence of the then-popular 'serialism,' and his work is now referred to as neo-romantic. He was particularly fascinated by the human voice.
