Description
A dramatization of a short story from the collection Musical Sherlock, in which violinist Sherlock Holmes studies Haydn's symphony With the Strike of the Timpani with an orchestra. In the role of Sherlock Holmes, Josef Kemr. Ilja Hurník (1922–2013), composer, pianist, music educator, and writer, wrote in the introduction to his book: "These will be stories that Arthur Conan Doyle simply ignored because he did not understand. Mr. Doyle managed to grasp that the phosphorus-coated fungus of the Hound of the Baskervilles glows, but he did not understand what happens to the detective when he rosins his bow. Mr. Doyle, a physician by training, could only see in the dust from the rosin the cause of allergic rhinitis. History awaited a writer who knows how a chin can tremble over violins and how a bow can pierce the heart. Only such a writer would be able to capture Sherlock Holmes and his friend at the peak of maturity, that is, at the peak of division.
