The game Paladins of the West Kingdom is set in the turbulent period of the West Frankish Empire, around the year 900 AD. Despite recent efforts to develop the city, the border settlements face a constant external threat. Saracens are exploring the borders while Vikings are plundering property and livestock. Even the Byzantines from the distant east give cause for concern. In the role of noble ladies and lords, you must unite your subjects in the city, defend against enemies, build fortifications, and spread the faith across the land. Fortunately, you are not alone in this endeavor. A wise king has sent his valiant knights to assist you. Saddle your horses and sharpen your blades! The Paladins are coming! The goal of the game Paladins of the West Kingdom is to achieve the highest number of victory points (VP) by the end of the game. Points are earned by building strongholds and fortifications, sending missionaries, and fighting foreigners. Each round, players request the help of a specific paladin and hire subjects to perform various tasks. Throughout the game, players will gradually increase their faith, strength, and influence. In addition to affecting the score at the end of the game, these attributes will also determine the significance of the players' actions. The game ends after the seventh round.
