This expansion for the Beast board game takes players to the Shattered Islands, a devastated place with a dark past. After people defeated the Beast known as the Feathered King, the catastrophe later called the Great Purge flooded half the world and claimed countless lives. Fleeing the horrors unleashed by the now-dead god and searching for new ways to defeat the Beasts, people sailed toward the Shattered Islands. The islands bear traces of a lost civilization of fanatical believers who lived in devotion to their faith and fear of the Beasts that ruled the world. Among the ruins lies the tragic story of a powerful ritual intended to give people ultimate power but instead destroy them. The secrets of the past are hidden inside the enormous tower known as the Tooth of the Deep. The new settlers believe it contains the power to rid them of the Beasts once and for all, unaware that it conceals the greatest threat yet. The expansion adds six new characters, two new maps, ancient ruins, powerful contracts, new game mechanics, Beasts, hunters, cards and more. Three new Beasts and three new hunters explore the uncharted lands, while the Beast player gains powerful new minions and the hunters receive a new companion. A five-player mode pits two Beasts against three hunters. The ruins on the two new maps offer unimaginable power, while new, powerful but risky Exhaustion actions bring devastating abilities into play. Six new contracts include resisting the Deep, occupying the Shattered Islands and fighting for control of the ancient ruins. Special abilities let Vacker steal souls and Valdi bleed creatures, using these dark essences to unlock even more powerful versions of their abilities. Split actions provide unprecedented flexibility by allowing players to perform any type of action.
