Description
Ballad for a Bandit is a musical stylized recording of a theater performance held in nature. Ivan Olbracht's novel about the famous bandit was adapted into a musical version in the 1970s, successfully staged by the Brno Theater on a String. No one knew at the time that the lyrics were written by the then-banned Milan Uhde. When director Vladimír Sís took on the film adaptation, he decided to adopt the original stage form, set within the framework of a natural theater. The musical accompaniment was provided by the band Greenhorns. The film features actors from the Brno Theater Husa na provázku, with Miroslav Donutil in the lead role and Iva Bittová as his lover Eržika. The songs from the musical, which have literally become folk songs, can be found on this CD.
