This Czech-language MP3 audiobook presents two exceptional works by Voltaire, a leading figure of the Enlightenment, philosopher, poet and writer. The philosophical novella Micromegas is considered one of the earliest works of science fiction, while Amabed’s Letters uses an epistolary form to criticise European civilisation, colonialism and the Church. Both satirical works view their own society and culture from an outside perspective. The recording also includes an interview with Josef Fulka, discussing the texts and the broader historical context. Directed and scripted by Hynek Pekárek, based on Hana Fořtová’s translation, it features Otakar Brousek, Jan Cina, Daniel Krejčík and Eva Podzimková.
