WHO: Tublatanka is a Slovak rock band founded in 1982 by Martin Ďurinda (guitar) and Juraj Černý (drums), popular in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Throughout its existence, it has created countless hits and received many awards. WHAT: The album Patriot by Tublatanka was released in 2005. It can be simply characterized as a 'modern return to roots.' Tublatanka recorded it again as a trio, with a clear reference to their origins. The return to the traditional power dynamics in the band was prompted by the tragic death of guitarist Dodo Dubán, to whom the possibly most significant song from the album, Pieseň pre Doda (Šlabikár VIII.), is dedicated.
