Description
This olive-green dye is suitable for batik and hand-dyeing cotton, linen, silk, viscose, blended fabrics containing no more than 20% synthetic fibres, and rice paper. The 25 g packet is sufficient for intensely dyeing 150 g of fabric. It can be hand-washed at up to 30°C, but is unsuitable for hot washing, and offers very good lightfastness. It is also suitable for children. The original colour is achieved only on white textiles; coloured textiles produce a shade mixed with the base colour. For intense dyeing, dissolve the packet in 3–5 litres of boiling water in a large stainless-steel container, or use 7 litres for medium to delicate shades and up to 300 g of fabric. Add one tablespoon of salt per litre of water, and add 50 ml of household vinegar for silk. Moisten and lightly wring out the fabric, place it in the dye bath, lower the temperature to 40–50°C for wax batik, and dye for at least 20 minutes while moving the fabric continuously. Rinse after each dyeing cycle in cold water until the water runs clear; silk must cool slowly before rinsing.
