Consequences of the Feb '48 Coup

This film is an interesting example of a latter-day attempt to recreate a young boy-girl affair around the Communist coup in February 1948 (which coup incidentally caused the US Congress to pass the Marshall Plan).
Centered around the story of an aspiring youthful poet sporting communist idealism in the postwar late '40s, he finds out what Stalinist government really means as he tries to win a likewise free-thinking girlfriend, and in the end get to Paris with her (unsuccessfully). I gladly used this film in my course on post-1989 retrospective films on the communist period to cover the '48 coup.

Synopsis
In year 1947, Ivan Heinz, a handsome and witty provocateur is running away from home, so he can go on an unconventional journey celebrating freedom and artistic ideals. Ivan writes poetry and throws himself into a destructive romance with independent bisexual Jana. They live a life filled with inspiring erotic games, fights, laughter, contemporary dance music, and also dramatic political changes experienced by the lovers. The communist regime is beginning to show its repressive face.
