Blues Rock Line 1968-1989 - 2 CD

This two-CD compilation presents 150 minutes of blues in 40 tracks recorded between 1968 and 1989, spanning the brief cultural opening at the end of the 1960s through the final years of normalisation. The tenth anniversary release in a series devoted to the history of Czech rock music recalls a period when much of the music being created could not be recorded, while singles and albums by Framus Five, Jazz Q, Flamengo and others occasionally broke the silence. Founding figures of Czech blues rock from groups such as Matadors and Blue Effect partly emigrated and partly moved into art rock, jazz rock and fusion ensembles. Blues echoes remained present in the work of Vladimír Mišík and Michal Prokop, while the Blues Band of Luboš Andršt and Peter Lipa and ASPM with Jan Spálený and Petr Kalandra became enduring fixtures. Younger musicians emerged from Prague’s Hanspaulka district and continued to present blues in many forms. The compilation is both a reminder of important names and a musical reflection of its time, showing blues in acoustic, folk-influenced forms as well as through extravagant electric solos.
