Bluesberry - LP

Blues from Hanspaulka is available again on LP. When the band Bluesberry is mentioned, Petr Petar Introvič (1951–2020) automatically comes to mind. Since 1971, many musicians have passed through this Prague, more precisely Hanspaulka-based group, but without Introvič it would not exist or have the same drive. At first, the band had a folk sound, reflected in its appearances, awards and early recordings from the Porta festival. It soon became clear, however, that its wittily ironic lyrics, set to blues standards and original songs, also worked with electric accompaniment. The founding members, Introvič on vocals, guitar, harmonica, accordion and other instruments, and Peter Jurkovič on guitar and vocals, were gradually joined by keyboard player Richard Dvořák, bassist Jiří Kredba and drummer Jan Hrdlička, all of whom can be heard on this 1987 debut album. Many others later contributed to the band’s quality and concert reputation, especially guitarist Mário Císař, lyricist Jaroslav Müller, singer Martin Kraus, drummers Zdeněk Šolc and Ivan Dvořák, and pianist and actor Václav Kopta. The activity at the Houtyš pub led to many heated discussions and subsequent lineup changes, without losing the essence: a thoroughly Czech form of blues that creates a unique branch of this popular genre. The original album has been newly remastered, supplemented with a sleeve containing the lyrics and pressed on 180-gram vinyl. The CD includes five bonus songs from the period before its release, adding further interest to the history of Bluesberry. The tracklist includes Stop Blues (Key to the Highway), Blues About Family Bliss (He Knows the Rules), Blues of the Abandoned Road, Pork Blues (Pigfoot and a Bottle of Beer), Blues Shirt, I’ve Got a Woman in Kladno (Got My Mojo Working), My Pleasure at Parting (Easy Rider), Blues About a Trip to Prague (Loghair’s Blues-Rhumba), Emgeton Blues (One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer), Last Match Blues (My Key to Your Door), Brandejs (My Baby), I’m Looking for That Kind of Woman (Why Are People Like That), You Only Want to Play (Baby, Please Come Home), In a Hundred Years, This Time I’ll Disappear for Good (I Can’t Be Satisfied), and For a Long Time (Long Time).
