Description
This CD by Michal Prokop and Framus Five contains twelve new songs plus a thirteenth bonus track, “Na shledanou,” a surprising arrangement of a 1960s melody by Jiří Šlitr with lyrics by Jiří Suchý. Following the platinum album Mohlo by to bejt nebe…, Prokop remains faithful to distinctive rock music and quality lyrics, supported by a three-generation band that has become more than an accomplished backing group and often contributes to the songwriting. The album includes music by Prokop, Andy Čermák, Pavel Marcel and Zdeněk Wimpy Tichota, with lyrics by Michal Bulíř, Martin Němec, Jan Lacina and Tomáš Roreček. Its twelve songs range from blues songwriting with harmonica through dense Southern-style guitar rock to organ-driven drama, enriched by the band’s characteristic strings and brass. From the opening single “A přece ráno” to the closing “Vyrovnání,” Ostraka is an energetic, thoughtful portrait of our complicated times, sometimes serious and occasionally delivered with welcome perspective.
