This CD is a reissue of Michael Kocáb’s first solo album, expanded with eight bonus tracks. As an instrumentalist, singer, composer and arranger, Kocáb has been a major figure on the Czech cultural scene since the second half of the 1970s. After moving from classical music through jazz and jazz rock, he joined Pražský výběr, a Czech version of the new wave distinguished by exceptional musicianship. His major film, theatre, exhibition and other projects of the 1980s were followed by a growing interest in chanson, leading ultimately to this solo debut. The album contains studio recordings from 1986 to 1988, with lyrics that develop from ironic dadaism into layered stories, chiefly written by Michal Horáček. Songs such as Sebastián, Chrlič and Já rasisty nikdy neměl rád are framed by the wild song Když přijede Kocábinka, tracing a transition from clever humour to even more thoughtful material. Kocáb, Pavlíček, Čok and Kryšpín, joined by guests Pokorný, Kulhánek and Chlumecký, create an engaging listen featuring instruments such as Drumtrack, guitar synthesizer and drumulator. The CD bonuses extend Kocáb’s work across the years 1982 to 2016, including songs for himself, his daughter Natálie, Anna Rusticano and Jindra Malík, as well as music connected with Bratislavská lyra and a rock-fusion excursion. The tracklist includes Když přijede Kocábinka, Život mě štíp, No a co ti schází, Bludiště dní, Kaskadér, Sebastián, Chrlič, Pán výtahů, Já rasisty nikdy neměl rád, Sny spravedlivých, Sei tu, Co mám říct, Promiň, ABC and Hřbitov.
