Micro - Magic - Circus / Golden Kids 1 - CD

This CD presents two legendary albums by the legendary trio Golden Kids: Marta Kubišová, Helena Vondráčková and Václav Neckář. Created in the late 1960s under the artistic and production direction of Bohuslav “Bob” Ondráček, the group was unusual not only in Czechoslovak pop but internationally, bringing together three already famous solo singers in a distinctive and visually striking ensemble. Marta’s mysterious alto, Helena’s radiant soprano and Václav’s youthful energy complement one another in specially written Czech songs and carefully chosen covers, supported by a highly accomplished orchestra and band, including guitarist Ota Petřina. International performances, including at the MIDEM record fair in Cannes, suggested that the trio might have a future beyond the country, but the period of political and cultural normalisation soon brought the ostracisation of the politically unwelcome Kubišová. Their legacy from 1968–70 remains vital, however. This remastered CD reissue, presented in a retro design based on the original artwork, commemorates a trio whose concept, singing and overall presentation exceeded the limits of pop music of its time. The tracklist includes “Micro – Magic – Circus”, “The Beat Goes On”, “Atlantis” and “Nautilus”, alongside Czech-language songs and adaptations.
