Description
This two-album vinyl reissue brings together Otakar Petřina’s exceptional solo albums Super-robot, originally released in 1978, and Pečeť, released in 1983. Petřina is often remembered as a brilliant guitarist, but he was also a master of other instruments, as well as a composer, arranger and producer who strongly influenced Czech popular music. His collaborations with Václav Neckář and Petra Janů led to albums that were important in many respects, while his own two solo opportunities produced long-playing works remarkable for their unusual blend of diverse influences. It is remarkable that Petřina managed to realise a project so unconventional for its time in its form, length and lyrics. With the help of bass, drums and C&K Vocal, he recorded compositions lasting up to fifteen minutes himself, working with lyrics by Zdeněk Rytíř and Pavel Vrba. Known for his perfectionism in the studio, he created an introspective yet completely assured sound built from many layers of guitars and other instruments, with poetic turns of phrase carried by his distinctive singing. The music may occasionally recall Pink Floyd, but remains entirely original and beyond categories and time. The reissue features new vinyl mastering and an attractive gatefold cover. The tracklist includes Já nejsem já, Čas neodeslaných dopisů, Nebýt tebe, Tak zazpívej jí blues, Podivín, Computer III. Generace, Super-robot, Hemingway, Čas, Odchod, Phalaenopsis, Kopřiva, Obálka and Syn.
