Description
This Czech-language audiobook on CD in MP3 format presents H. G. Wells’s The Invisible Man, read by Otakar Brousek Jr. Wells, regarded as a founder of modern science fiction, builds an original crime story with science-fiction elements around the popular premise of a stranger who arrives in a small town and turns it upside down. The mysterious visitor is a brilliant scientist whose experiments have stripped him of his human appearance, leaving not a glimpse of his body visible beneath his coat, hat, dark glasses and bandages. As he tries to put things right, he refuses to spare anyone who stands in his way, even at the cost of breaking the law or resorting to violence. The Invisible Man has become a major pop-culture figure alongside Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster and Sherlock Holmes. Otakar Brousek Jr.’s reading captures both the novel’s dramatic dimension and Wells’s lighter storytelling, including its characteristic British humour.
