Doba ledová - CD

This CD presents Precedens’s breakthrough 1988 debut album with Bára Basiková, combining synthesizer-driven sound with her powerful, dramatic voice. After earlier phases of dark singer-songwriter music with Jan “Sahara” Hedl and the intellectual irony of Lumír Tuček, bandleader Martin Němec fully embraced synthesizers and Basiková, transforming the group’s former club performances into major concerts. The atmospheric music was enhanced by visual elements, while many of its themes reached an unexpectedly pop-oriented appeal. Songs such as “Černá bohyně,” “Doba ledová” and “Dívčí válka” achieved unconventional hit popularity. The double-keyboard lineup creates a distinctly neo-romantic synth atmosphere without losing the role of the guitar, while Němec’s music and lyrics are given a compelling dramatic interpretation by Basiková. This reissue returns an important work of Czech music, with reconstructed artwork, lyrics and a stylistically appropriate CD bonus.
