This three-CD collection brings together 64 songs created through the long artistic friendship of composer Karel Svoboda and singer Karel Gott, which began in 1968. Selected by Miloš Skalka and accompanied by his detailed expert commentary in the booklet, the compilation spans successes from Lady Carneval and other songs of the late 1960s and 1970s, through Gott’s assured professionalism in the 1980s, to a new version of Jdi za štěstím from 2019. It includes such favourites as Láska bláznivá, Rio de Janeiro, Kdepak, ty ptáčku, hnízdo máš?, Včelka Mája (Die Biene Maja), Čau, lásko and Mám rád Máchův Máj, as well as Gott’s final recording. The collection traces the freshness of their early collaboration, often featuring lyrics by Jiří Štaidl, and the lasting appeal of two artists whose work became part of the musical memory of several generations. The fold-out paper digipack includes facts, biographies and photographs, offering an extensive portrait of their exceptional artistic friendship.
