Description
This Czech-language CD contains 25 songs from Václav Neckář’s first album, recorded in 1965 and 1966 during his rapid rise to fame. The collection reflects the musical variety of the period, bringing together almost-swing, almost-western, almost-big-beat and almost-comedy songs, held together by Neckář’s boyishly optimistic voice. The recordings were supported by musicians associated with Rokoko Theatre, the Czechoslovak Radio Dance Orchestra and the Mefisto band, alongside compositions by Jiří Bažant, Jaromír Vomáčka and Bohuslav Ondráček, with lyrics by Jan Schneider and Ivo Fischer. Ten bonus songs selected by Miloš Skalka further confirm the quality of this repertoire. The debut album is presented in a deliberately retro style, including its cover photograph, while the easily remembered, witty and colourful songs continue to appeal to listeners of all ages. The tracklist includes “Hallo, mademoiselle”, “Táborák pro dva”, “Proč se ptáš”, “Až louky rozkvetou”, “Vlčí máky”, “Ze soboty na neděli”, “Lékořice”, “Hříbě”, “Dostal jsem kuli”, “Tu kytaru jsem koupil kvůli tobě”, “Spím”, “Den žen”, “Zrovna tahle”, “Stín katedrál”, “Bim bam”, “Tahle basa”, “Tenhle bílej měsíc”, “Zvoňte o patro níž”, “Vypalte znamení”, “Dlouhej nos”, “Stříbrná flétna”, “Ša-la-la-la-li”, “Když vítr zafouká”, “Moře, to není Tálinskej rybník” and “Rytíř své doby”.
