Adventní písně a koledy - LP

This festive vinyl album brings together Marta Kubišová and the Eben brothers, who set fifteen suitably celebratory passages from the Gospels of Saint Luke and Saint Matthew to music. After 1989, Kubišová returned to the studio and joined the trio of brothers Eben: Marek composed the music, while David and Kryštof helped with the arrangements. Dalibor Štrunc on dulcimer, Ingeborg Žádná on cello and viola da gamba, Petr Hapka on hurdy-gurdy, and the male choir Schola Gregoriana Pragensis complete the unusual ensemble. The sensitive modern treatment makes the music both pop-like in its originality and solemnly Advent-focused, offering moments for rest and reflection, from “Panno blahoslavená” and “Syn Boží se nám narodil” to “Prorokovali proroci” and “Nastal nám den veselý.” The reissue also includes seven bonus recordings from 1967 to 1999, extending beyond the album’s original period and unique musical style while complementing its festive theme with partly lesser-known songs. The album also recalls Kubišová’s frequent support for public charitable collections during Advent. The contents are in Czech.
