Bílé Vánoce - CD

This Christmas album by Karel Gott, his second devoted to the season, remains a festive listening experience decades after its original release. Following Christmas in Golden Prague from 1969, it combines seven songs inspired by modern trends, including White Christmas and Blue Christmas, with European and Czech folk carols and songs. The repertoire includes traditional favourites such as Silent Night, The First Noël and Adam Michna of Otradovice’s celebrated Chtíc, aby spal. Accompanied by the Ladislav Štaidl Orchestra and choirs including Bambini di Praga and Pavel Kühn’s choir, the recording goes beyond ordinary pop production and is suited to the Christmas season. Nine bonus tracks extend the album’s themes and timespan from 1972 to 2020, including further international and Czech songs, Silent Night, a duet with Lucie Bílá, Christmas Time with Lucie Vondráčková and Angelic with his daughter Charlotte Ella. The final bonus, Richard Krajčo’s Christmas, was released a year after Gott’s death on an album by Kryštof, giving this festive collection an exceptional conclusion.
