Michal Horák’s Michalbum is an entertaining second album from the singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, who also studies at Charles University’s Faculty of Education. One of the most distinctive representatives of the singer-songwriter generation that emerged after Tomáš Klus and Xindl X, he follows in the footsteps of artists such as Pokáč and Voxel. His first singles, including V 7:25, Hej teto! and Vysokoškolskej song, were followed by his 2019 debut album Michalovo cédéčko. The new album features several songs with which he entertained fans during the long lockdown and whose videos regularly appeared among YouTube’s trending content. Horák also invited a number of fellow artists to participate, including Berenika Suchánková, Tereza Balonová, Vendula Příhodová and Pavel Čadek on the bonus track Prsa. The varied and entertaining repertoire reflects his development as a singer-songwriter, combining everyday observations, situational humour, carefree energy and an unaffected style.
