This live Christmas CD captures the best of Lucie Bílá’s seasonal concert tours. For a decade, her special pre-Christmas performances with Petr Malásek’s band have brought musical joy coloured by Advent reflection, Christmas Eve solemnity and the exuberance of carols. Recorded at a concert in Prague’s Doupě club, the album features Lucie Bílá in excellent vocal form, joined by guest Jan Toužimský, accomplished musicians and choral singers. Its seventeen songs follow a carefully conceived concert arc and draw from all her previous Christmas albums, ranging from well-known American standards such as Jingle Bells, Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! and The Christmas Song to modern Czech classics including Purpura and the traditional Amazing Grace. The programme also includes sacred or classical-tinged pieces such as Silent Night, Panis angelicus and Ave Maria, as well as Desatero, the cult song Hallelujah from Leonard Cohen’s repertoire. The tracklist contains Winter Wonderland, Hark!
