Description
This CD presents Stanislav Wabi Daněk’s legendary debut, originally released in 1984 and appearing on CD for the first time. The album gathers his earlier songs, led by the tramp anthem Dew on the Rails, while Ročník 47, Hudson Ships, The Song November Taught Me and Outsider Waltz are among the other numbers that became enduring favourites of the Czech folk and tramping scene. Alongside the original twelve-track album, the CD adds twelve bonuses, creating a broad overview of Daněk’s career through 2014, the year of his final album. The selection includes Wind, The Bigger the Fool, the Harder the Fall, As the Years Go By, Shantytown, Let the World Go Round, Montgomery, Me and Bobby McGee, Life Goes On, Riders in the Sky, Solitude and Big Rock Candy Mountain. Drawing on Supraphon archives and licensed recordings, the release presents the singer, guitarist, composer and lyricist through his music and a biographical text by Mirek Černý. The booklet also includes photographic documentation of the changes in Daněk’s career and appearance.
