This Czech-language audiobook examines the mystery surrounding the death of Czechoslovak foreign minister Jan Masaryk in 1948, asking whether it was murder or suicide. As early as 1968, P. Kettner and I. M. Jedlička set out to uncover the truth, speaking with key figures in the case who were still alive at the time. Their work presents a report that compares eyewitness accounts of the tragedy, arguments for and against the different theories, and written documents relating to the case. In an engaging, almost detective-like manner, it explores not only Jan Masaryk’s death but also the life and human character of this remarkable man, as well as the atmosphere immediately following the communist coup in February 1948. The book was first published in 1990, supplemented and updated, while retaining its most valuable feature: personal testimonies from people close to the minister and from investigators involved at the time.
