Description
This collection brings together recordings from the archives of Supraphon, Czech Television, Czech Radio, Opus and private collections, capturing almost everything Miloš Kopecký recorded and sang alone or with fellow performers and guests during 31 years of his artistic life. Both CDs open with a selection of songs performed by Kopecký, led by the immortal Mackie Messer. He appears as an outstanding actor in many roles from the international and Czech repertoire, as well as a remarkably witty writer of stories, observations and replies to audiences during numerous discussions. The booklet includes a fragment from the artist’s autobiography, revealing what a profoundly thoughtful and intelligent person he was, together with many archival photographs by Václav Chochola and Milan Wágner. The recordings include The Decameron, Letters to Shy Lovers, I Was Peter Vok, Two on Olympus, The Art of Loving, About Nosáček, The Poorly Trained Wizard, Literary and Other Lapses, Turn It Over, I Am on the Other Side, An Evening with Miloš Kopecký, With Microphono at Reduta, Please Hang Up, Semafor Calling, Miloš Kopecký Is at the Door, An Evening with Antonín Jedlička and Miloš Kopecký, The World of Jaroslav Ježek, The Darling Ornifle, The Miser, The Makropulos Affair and many other performances and songs. The collection is selected and compiled by Jakub Kamberský. The recordings are in Czech.
