Description
This Czech-language audio collection presents famous and lesser-known short stories by Ota Pavel, organised around fishing, family, nature, creative work and sport. The nearly nine-hour programme combines legendary recordings from the 1970s to the 1990s with new recordings of stories from Stories from the Drawer, discovered among Pavel’s papers and first published in 2017 in the complete edition of his work. The collection brings together performers from four generations, including Vlastimil Brodský, Rudolf Hrušínský, Jiří Sovák, Miroslav Horníček, Josef Somr, Petr Vacek, Simona Stašová, Jiří Lábus and others. It includes selections from A Full Crate of Champagne, The Death of Beautiful Roebucks, How I Met the Fish and Golden Eels, along with the dramatised 2011 version of The Tale of Raška, directed by Jan Jiráň. The second disc is devoted to Stories from the Drawer, recorded by Radúz Mácha, Igor Orozovič and Miloslav König in 2020.
