This Czech-language audio collection celebrates Spejbl’s 100th birthday with a selection of the most interesting archival recordings, three brand-new recordings and one rare discovery. Josef Skupa, Miloš Kirschner and Martin Klásek, the three historic voices of the famous father figure, are joined for the first time by Ondřej Lážnovský, the current performer of both characters. The compilation includes Miloš Kirschner’s monologue About Love from 1980, available in Czech for the first time, as well as new recordings created for special birthday and celebratory occasions. The nearly 75-minute programme features Spejbl and Hurvínek in stories and sketches including Snakes, Morning Exercises at the Spejbls’, Spejbl’s Geography, Spejbl’s Aria, Spejbls at the Railway Station, Hurvínek’s Bedtime Stories, The Little Tent, Hurvínek’s Golden Zebra, Traffic Signs, Why Are We Here?, a New Year’s Greeting and A Voice for Spejbl and Hurvínek. The booklet contains a concise history of Josef Spejbl’s life and work and a selection of rare photographs.
