This double CD presents 49 golden recordings from the Czech country and western scene of the 1960s and 1970s, selected by lyricist and presenter Mirek Černý. The compilation looks back at the first chapter of this originally American music in Czechoslovakia, where it easily connected with the country’s tramping tradition, the popularity of film westerns and the cultural opening of the 1960s. Pavel Bobek, Michal Tučný, Jiří Grossmann, Naďa Urbánková, Eva Olmerová, Ladislav Vodička, Mirek Hoffmann, Karel Kahovec, Rangers, Mustangové, KTO and others represent a colourful period that influenced several generations of listeners and laid the foundations for the genre’s further development. The booklet contains an informed accompanying text and photographs.
