Description
This Czech-language three-disc audiobook collection commemorates the centenary of Miroslav Horníček’s birth with familiar, previously released recordings alongside forgotten and previously unreleased material. Apart from a few curious exceptions, Horníček appears as an actor, host, clown and performer of his own texts. The selection includes previously released titles as well as newly issued gems such as Zavinil to bubínek and Nocturné, in which he guides, comments on and drives the action. Several versions of some recordings are included, including Předscény with Jan Werich and Horníček’s own text Chvála pohybu. The collection also features recordings of several Semafor Theatre productions starring Horníček, unknown versions of previously released programmes and previously unpublished recitals. It concludes with a collage by Robert Tamchyna, assembled from various sound excerpts to form a kind of biography of the celebrated performer.
