Description
This Czech-language audiobook adaptation of James Patrick Donleavy’s novel follows Jocelyn Guenevere Marchantierová-Jonesová, who at forty-three is abandoned by her partner while her grown-up children leave home. She initially copes with dignity, but gradually falls into a strange stupor and increasing material poverty. When her life seems headed only toward a bleak voluntary end, a principle instilled by her grandmother—to use only the cleanest of clean lavatories—changes everything in a completely unexpected way. Brilliantly shaped yet open to several interpretations, the story of this proud, witty and ironic heroine is both amusing and moving. The recording features Jiří Dvořák, Jan Hartl and Petra Špalková.
