Description
This anniversary edition revisits one of the key albums in Czech popular music. After notable work with The Matadors, The Blue Effect and Flamengo, Vladimír Mišík found himself at a crossroads in the mid-1970s: much of his earlier rock period had been suppressed by the normalization regime, while he was ready to confirm his own compositional voice and move decisively towards Czech lyrics. The resulting nine songs combine acoustic singer-songwriter influences with Mišík’s essential rhythm-and-blues character, supported by excellent musicians who partly formed the nucleus of his future band ETC..., as well as guests including C&K Vocal, O. Petřina and J. Stivín. The album became a major event of 1976, despite later difficulties with repressing its sold-out edition and Mišík’s ban on public performances. This edition brings together original cover creators Jaroslav Prokop and Karel Haloun, includes the complete lyrics, previously rejected title designs, Jiří Černý’s original sleeve note, reflections from two dozen musicians and other artists, and little-known or newly discovered documentary photographs. The tapes receive new remastering.
