Bende Petr - Restart - CD

Petr Bende prepared the songs for this studio album over several years, writing them while travelling with a guitar or at home at the piano and returning to the way his songs had once been created. These stripped-down melodies stand up to a spare arrangement for a single instrument and voice. He wrote more than 40 songs and selected 25 of them for the album, with producer Dalibor Cidlinský Jr. helping him choose the final material. Twelve songs were ultimately recorded at Cidlinský’s DC studio in Frýdštejn, with Petr Bende’s backing band joined by musicians including guitarist Josef Štěpánek, Dalibor Cidlinský on keyboards and his brother Jan Cidlinský on bass. Petr Bende wrote the lyrics for two songs, poet Tomáš Tajchner contributed one, and most of the lyrics were written by Tomáš Roreček. The two have known each other for some time, creating a convincing creative partnership in which Roreček respects and fulfils Bende’s ideas about the subjects and texts of his songs. The album’s title, Restart, reflects the emotion with which Bende recorded the songs and the feeling with which he likes to wake up and live each morning. In his words, it represents new strength for something emerging, a change in his approach to songwriting, a contemporary sound, and a new producer and record label. Restart is Petr Bende’s fourth studio album and his first released by Supraphon; its opening song is also the lead single.
