Description
This CD presents the famous South American dance in performances by Václav Hybš’s orchestra. Originally a surprise of the early 20th century, the tango became a permanent part of world culture, ranging from polished salon versions to jazz variations and adaptations in classical music. Václav Hybš creates a colourful arrangement that draws on popular, exotic, French and other Mediterranean traditions as well as their Czech counterparts. The recordings include Jalouisie, La Paloma, La Habanera, Olé Guapa and Tango Bolero, along with O Španělsku si zpívám from the Liberated Theatre and Vacka’s evergreens Cikánka and Nikdy se nevrátí pohádka mládí. The first twelve tracks are instrumental, while the bonus recordings also include versions sung solo by Karel Černoch, Jiří Korn and Miloš Kopecký. Together, the nearly 20 recordings offer rewarding listening and dancing, showcasing an orchestra with an exceptional talent for arranging attractive musical material.
